A single study analysing 126,000 verified news stories, shared by roughly three million people over eleven years, found that false news reaches its first 1,500 people six times faster than the truth — and that the effect was driven by ordinary human behaviour, not bots. That isn't a story about bad actors. It's a story about architecture: an information economy built on advertising will always reward outrage over accuracy, because outrage is what keeps people scrolling. The Open Story Network (OSN) exists because editorial standards alone can't fix a structural problem.

OSN is Commons World's information infrastructure — the pillar that determines what happens to verified reality once it exists. Every other pillar produces evidence: PCH sets standards, the Commons Registry preserves records, the Alliance for Transparent Enterprise confirms consequence. OSN is what decides whether any of that actually reaches people, in what form, and with what degree of confidence attached to it.

It runs on two connected layers. Commons News (CN) is distributed, community-rooted investigative journalism — thousands of independent channels reporting at local, regional, and global scale simultaneously, restoring the connection between people and the realities that actually shape their daily lives, rather than the distant spectacle that dominates conventional media. People's News (PN) is citizen participation built for evidence rather than virality: any AURA-authenticated individual can document a local event, an ecological change, or a community concern, with the submission geotagged, timestamped, and authenticated to a real person — while that person's identity stays protected from the public record. It is an evidence network, not a rumour network, and the architecture makes that distinction visible before a single reader sees the content.
